Alrighty. I've had my G3 for about a year now and IMO i think its an amazing gun...when it works. Ever since i got the gun i have had problems with it. Last season it barely worked at all. But after a little help from Santos and Dangerous Power i've got the gun working pretty good now. (aside from the eyes being broken).
Pros:
-fast (25 bps is faster than anyone ever needs to shoot)
-light(1.8 lbs)
-small
-nice feel
-accurate
-looks (it's pretty damn sexy in yellow )
-simplicity
Cons:
-RELIABILITY!
-gas hog
- optical board (i just like microswiches better) and it probably should have psp 3 shot for all the tourney players out there
Upon opening the box, my first impression was- WOW, this thing feels amazing in the hands and it's soooo light! It only weighs about 1.8 pounds and is very small. In the box the gun comes with: spare o-rings, a barrel cover, a huge poster style manual, and some allen keys. Pretty decent for a 300$ gun.
When my G3 came out of the box the velocity was so low the gun wouldn't cycle, so don't freak out if it doesn't shoot, just turn up the velocity.
The reg takes a while to break in but once it does, it's pretty consistent. The regulator was also the source of most of my problems before i got it fixed. I'd try to adjust the velocity and the gun would either leak, or the velocity would stay the same. One time the bottom half of my reg actually shot off
The trigger on this gun is the best that i have felt for a gun under 500$. It's really easy to walk.
Another cool thing about the gun is its simplicity. Just unscrew the back cap and voila, your 5 o-ring bolt assembly just pops out.
The optical board is very easy to configure (although i would rather have a microswitch board). All you have to do is push some dipswitches up and down.
The RAPS on/off ASA works very well, and so does the clamping feedneck. All the the stock parts are really good (including the barrel) but there are quite a few upgrades out there for the G3, so upgradability shouldn't be a problem, and it's autococker threaded, so finding barrels shouldn't be a problem either.
The G3 is a gas hog. Plain and simple. It only gets about 600 shots on my full 56/4500. I think this mostly has to do with it's dump valve bolt design.
I know that the G3 has been replaced by the spec-r and the G4, but i still think it's worth looking at.
All and all, i think the G3 is a great gun...after all the bugs are worked out that is
This is my first review so i apologize if i forgot anything
