I think it would be kind of cool to see a tower...perhaps a 2 storey tower. Before I started playing at Bronson my friend made a 2 storey tower. It stood around 12 ft tall if I recall. It was sturdy you could go under it, stand on the 1st storey or lay on the 2nd storey.
He unfortunately moved to Calgary and I had a falling out with him so getting him to help is kind of out of the question. Basically it had a normal bunker on the bottom with full cover on the sides. The front had enough cover that if you were kneeling your head would be only showing. The back was open. The ladder was in the middle supported by a 2 ft. stake in the ground and nailed against a support beam.
The main story had low cover on the sides. The front had lattice and the back was fully covered by a sheet of plywood covered by metal. The ladder to the second storey also was nailed to support beams and had decent cover so that if your were trying to get up to the second storey you could without much fear of being hit.
The second storey forced you to crawl...we believed it was safer to keep you laying down at that height. you had full cover if you were laying down...there were small gaps in the cover allowing you to get some pretty funny head-shots if some unsuspecting person walked by.
It was the main area we would play in. We would play assault the fort. If you were assaulting you had to get to the top and blow a whistle to win. If you were defending you couldn't go further than 25 feet from the tower. It stood up for at least 3 years until we had someone tear it down on us. Unfortunately where we built it we couldn't do a thing about it.
The tower only took 2 guys 2 days to complete. It was simple and sturdy. As far as safety goes...I;m not quite sure as this was back in my teenage days...safety wasn't a big concern of mine, smaller quick guys would be ok but the bigger slower guys would probably have some trouble.
The ladder for the 1st storey was under the main floor area for the 2nd storey and the 2nd storey ladder was on the side of the support away from the 1st ladder so you would have to get off and then climb again. We thought this would be a little safer if you ever fell you wouldn't fall more than a few feet.
As far as supporting the structure we used trees to rest it against and a couple stakes 4 ft long driven half way into the ground. Didn't seem to wobble much at all. Not sure how far the limestone is in the ground at the Bronson field. But it's something to think about.
